I am often invited to join husky breeder groups and other husky owner forums. I always hate to disappoint someone who thinks I would bring something useful to the group. Owning a husky breeding program has been a wonderful experience, but I’ve chosen not to participate in husky forums. Here’s why:
1. Time Constraints
Running a highly successful breeding program, especially the husky breed, is a big commitment. Between work, caring for my huskies, and other responsibilities, I find it challenging to allocate time to actively participate in forums. I’d rather spend my free time directly engaging with my huskies, enjoying activities like walks, playtime, socialization, and training sessions.
2. Misinformation and Misunderstanding
Husky forums can be a double-edged sword. While they can sometimes offer valuable insights, they can also be overwhelming with differing opinions and advice. Every husky owner’s experience is unique, and sometimes the sheer volume of conflicting information can be confusing rather than helpful. I have seen many people who just bought a husky, start giving all kinds of advice to others that was thinking about getting one. How much would they really know in such a short time owning just 1 husky?
Forums can be a breeding ground for misinformation. Despite my expertise, it can be challenging to correct widespread myths and misconceptions without getting into lengthy debates. Additionally, not everyone understands or appreciates the specific breeding goals we have at Bama Huskies, such as breeding for a laid-back temperament and heat tolerance, which can lead to misunderstandings and unnecessary arguments.
3. Focus on Direct Customer Relationships
I prefer to focus on building strong, direct relationships with our customers. This allows me to provide personalized advice and support tailored to their specific needs and circumstances. By doing so, I can ensure that our customers are well-informed and satisfied, fostering loyalty and trust in our brand.
4. Maintaining a Positive Brand Image
Forums can sometimes become contentious, and engaging in heated discussions can reflect poorly on our brand. By staying out of these public debates, I can maintain a positive and professional image for Bama Huskies, ensuring that our interactions with the public remain constructive and respectful.
5. Privacy and Confidentiality
Breeding practices and business strategies are often proprietary information. Engaging in forums could inadvertently lead to sharing sensitive details that I prefer to keep private. By avoiding forums, I can protect our breeding program’s integrity and confidentiality. There are many trade secrets a breeder learns over a period of time. This takes a lot of money and resources. I am not looking to enhance a shortcut for my competitors.
6. Tailored Communication
I believe in providing information that is specific to our huskies and our breeding practices. Forums are often filled with general advice that may not be applicable to the unique traits of our Bama Huskies. By focusing on one-on-one communication, I can ensure that the information provided is accurate and relevant to our customers’ needs.
7. Quality Over Quantity
Participating in forums could dilute the quality of information and support I provide. By concentrating on direct interactions, I can offer high-quality, personalized guidance rather than spreading myself thin across multiple platforms.
By focusing my efforts on direct customer relationships and maintaining the quality of our breeding program, I can ensure that Bama Huskies continues to thrive and that our customers receive the best possible support and guidance.
