Some litters make you stop and say, “These puppies are going to be something special.”
Everest’s litter is already doing exactly that.
Today these little ones are 2 weeks old, and they are growing at an incredible pace. Several are already tipping the scales at around 3 pounds, which is impressive for their age.
Of course, every puppy develops at its own pace, and weight alone doesn’t determine the quality of the adult dog. But after raising dogs for more than 30 years, you begin to recognize the little signs that often point toward a strong start.

One thing I’ve learned over the years is this…
I never judge a puppy by just one thing.
Not by weight.
Not by color.
Not by eye color.
Not by who reaches the food bowl first.
Instead, I watch the entire puppy.
How they nurse.
How steadily they gain weight.
How they respond to handling.
How they recover after being disturbed.
How mom interacts with them.
How they begin solving little problems as they grow.
It’s hundreds of tiny observations that eventually paint the picture.
That’s experience you simply can’t rush.
What’s Happening at Two Weeks?
At around two weeks old, these puppies are entering one of my favorite stages.
Their eyes are opening.
Their hearing is beginning to develop.
They’re starting to become aware of the world around them.
Before long they’ll begin wobbling around the nursery, discovering their littermates, and showing us the first little hints of their individual personalities.
This is where our Bama Huskies Beginnings program starts becoming even more important.
Every positive experience from this point forward helps build the confident companion we want each puppy to become.
A Strong Beginning Matters
People often ask what makes one breeder different from another.
The answer usually isn’t found in a single health test or one fancy pedigree.
It’s found in the thousands of small decisions made every single day while these puppies are growing.
Monitoring weight.
Keeping mom healthy.
Maintaining a clean nursery.
Gentle daily handling.
Watching for the smallest changes before they become bigger problems.
Those little things add up.
And they matter.
We’re excited to watch Everest’s puppies grow over the coming weeks, and we can’t wait to share every milestone with you.
They’re only two weeks old…
But something tells me these little ones have a bright future ahead.
