Dogs have a lot in common with us. There’s a reason they are our best friend. They are very sociable, they love laying around with us, they’re intelligent, they’re emotional, and a lot of their biology is like us. Just like humans they also lose their baby teeth at a certain point in their lives.

Pups, when they are born are without teeth. It takes them about 6-8 weeks before they grow their first baby teeth. Generally, dogs have as many as 28 baby or deciduous teeth. The first teeth to fall out are incisors followed by premolars, and then the canines.

The Teething Process

The teething process in Huskies is an on and off event and goes on for several months. Your buddy might be in a lot of pain and be very uncomfortable during this period. You will find them chewing and biting objects of varying texture as an act of pain relief.

When Do Huskies Lose Their Teeth

Husky pups start losing their teeth anywhere between the ages of 3 to 7 months. Their baby teeth roots are replaced by their emerging adult teeth. You will notice your pup losing its incisors when he is about three months of age. The adult premolars and canines start appearing at thirty to forty days later. The molars will start appearing in the sixth to seventh month time period, with the full emergence on adult teeth showing up in the seventh or eighth month.

Things to Consider During the Teething Process

You should notice that your Husky will have developed a total of 42 teeth by the time it is eight months old. Some little guys might take a little more time than that, but that is an anomaly and happens in very rare cases. You have to be extra careful when your dog is teething and should make sure you keep power cables and other such things that might be harmful to them out of reach or be sure to watch them closely when running about the house. They will chew on furniture during this time period. Moreover, it would be best if you also protected your valuable belongings because they will chew at any and everything to relieve their pain.

How Can You Help Your Mouthing Puppy?

Just like your own baby, you can help your teething husky by giving it a lot of chew able toys. These toys will not only help your husky puppy with his discomfort but also make sure his new teeth are strong and healthy. You can also give him a washcloth that is thoroughly dipped in water and then frozen to help him with sore gums.

One thing that you will have to be prudent about is that when your pup is gnawing on the washcloth, it does not tear a piece of it. Because if it does, it is very likely that they will ingest those pieces. Ingesting washcloth or any other fabric can cause blockages in their intestinal tracts that can cause serious health hazards.

While the husky is one of the best dog breeds to own, during their teething, they require a little more care. They will bite and nip at you constantly. Just use the toys to help with teething and they will get through this before you know it.
