We micro-chip 99% of all our husky puppies before they go home. We don’t require it but you really should have it done. The extra cost is minor and the benefits are well worth the cost. We provide this service to all our customers to benefit them and save money. You don’t have to pay us to do it if you prefer your vet can do it for you but they will charge you 45-50 dollars. We probably have done more than a lot of vets but the important thing is you get it done. Here are some reasons why you should micro-chip your husky puppy.
Just a few weeks ago a friend of mine lost his dog. It was an inside dog but it got let out the front door by accident and nobody noticed the dog was missing until it was long gone. Nobody ever plans on this type of accident happening but it happens every day. It’s hard to predict the future and know what situation may come up unexpected. The dog was missing for 4 days but it was eventually picked up by animal control. The dog was micro-chipped so they contacted the owners and let them know they had their dog so they could come pick it up. Without the dog being micro-chipped they probably wouldn’t have recovered their beloved pet. The animal shelters are full of dogs and once they don’t have any more room your dog is next up to be put down and that can be the next day. Thankfully this story has a happy ending for the family.
Another reason you should micro-chip your husky puppy just occurred to me this morning while watching the news. A families house was broken into over the Christmas holidays and the only thing taken was 2 brand new puppies. The stolen puppies were sold to other people for a quick buck. The family posted about the dog napping on facebook with pics of the puppies. The people the dogs were sold to came forward and contacted the family as they were suspicious. Turns out the puppies were a match. Unfortunately the puppies were not micro-chipped so there was no way to prove right out that they were the stolen puppies because they had never micro-chipped them. They did however sell the puppies back to the family. They had to buy them back! So it appears without micro-chipping the puppies there was no way they could positively prove that they were theirs in a court of law. If they had been micro-chipped they would have been returned by the law free of charge.
These are just a couple of very good reasons to spend a few extra dollars and get your puppy micro-chipped. You are protecting your investment and ensuring these things don’t happen to you.
