At Bama Huskies, every new litter feels like a small miracle but sometimes, a momma dog takes our breath away. Last night, our sweet and experienced husky Fiona gave birth to an incredible 13 healthy puppies. That’s right… thirteen! 🍼🐾
A Night of Hard Work and Big Rewards
The birthing process began late in the evening and stretched into the night, but Fiona handled it like the amazing mother she has always been. With each puppy’s arrival, we carefully disinfected umbilical cords, cleaned tiny paws and noses, and made sure everyone was breathing strong.
While I tended to the newborns, Marylee focused on mom — gently cleaning her up, giving her comfort, and helping her settle in after her hard work. By sunrise, Fiona was resting on a fresh, soft rug with rubber underpadding for support and warmth, surrounded by her beautiful new family.
Health, Safety, and Comfort First
With such a large litter, our top priority is keeping a close eye on both mom and babies. The puppies are strong so far, nursing well and staying close to Fiona for warmth and bonding. Over the coming weeks, we’ll be monitoring their growth, making sure everyone thrives, and of course sharing updates as they open their eyes and show off their unique personalities.
