Many times we as dog owners worry about the right kind of dog food we should be feeding our beloved husky puppies. You want your puppy to grow up to be the healthiest dog he can be and rightly so since he is depending on you to make the right choice for him. If you look online for information to help you make that choice the answer will not only differ, but it can leave you dazed and confused with the answer even more puzzling than ever before. It’s that way by design. Every dog food company has someone out marketing their brand as the best dog food. The higher the price the better the quality of food. Well that’s not entirely true but these big name expensive brands are banking on you coming to this logical conclusion. Don’t let your wallet fall victim to this stuff.
One point most big brands make is absolutely true. No dog needs a corn based dog food. The dog gains very little nutrition from it since corn is not digested by a dog. Corn is just a filler product. Still, you don’t have to buy a dog food made from deer or some exotic stuff for your dog to get a balanced diet. Paying 60.00 for a bag of dog food is not something most people can provide for their dog. It’s way to expensive and there are other dog foods sold that will be just as good for your dog at half the price plus I am going to show you how to get an even better quality of dog food at a much lower price.
So what are these dog foods? Since I am not being paid to promote any brand I am not going to name any particular brand but here are some things to look for. Know how much protein your dog needs, just ask your veterinarian. Stay away from corn based products. There are lots of dog food brands out on the market that use chicken products, chicken meals, or other chicken parts as the main ingredient. I know the big brands will say I am wrong but I have raised dogs for more than 30 years. All my dogs have lived healthy long and happy lives. Most outlived their life average expectancy by a couple of years or more. I have a track record longer than a lot of these new designer dog food brands have even existed so their marketing and proof of product don’t even compare to my many years of actual experience of feeding our dogs.
Adding the right stuff to your dog’s food is beneficial
Buying a good dog food and adding a few things to it will give you a better quality dog food and it will taste better to your dog and be better for your dog. I put my dog food in a bucket and add a couple of raw eggs to it and stir it up each day. Dogs love the eggs and it’s not only good for them, it’s also good for their coat. You will see a big difference in how shiny their coat will get in a short time. Another thing our huskies love is salmon or tuna. You can get these cheap at the grocery store or even the dollar store in a can. Unlike the big name brand expensive dog foods, you’re giving the same high quality food at a much lower price and it’s fresher and less processed. Ever buy an expensive bag of dog food then open it up and see chunks of tuna or salmon in it? Of coarse not and they can’t do it without processing it to death and that is why you should do it yourself.
This is good food for any dog as long as they don’t have some type of allergy to certain foods. Most dogs won’t but you have to learn about your dog as all dogs are individuals just like humans. Husky puppies are notorious for having sensitive stomachs so when you bring your puppy home you will need to feed it what it has been used to eating at first. Gradually start mixing in whatever dog food you have decided to feed him if it’s different. Eventually you can have him completely on the new food. Then gradually start adding an egg and swap it up with tuna or salmon. Never put milk in a huskies food. Siberian huskies are not dairy tolerant after they have been weaned. Just use good meats, fish, and eggs and you will have a healthy and happy dog for a long time. Be sure to watch his weight and don’t over feed your dog.
