Editor’s Note From Husky Jim
There’s a certain magic in winter that always takes me back to the moment this all started with one dog, one spark, and a life that changed direction forever. I didn’t know back then that a husky would become family… and eventually lead to hundreds of families whose lives would be warmed by these winter‑hearted companions.
People ask me all the time why I chose Huskies, especially here in Alabama. The truth? I didn’t choose them. They chose me. There’s something in those bright eyes and knowing looks a mix of mischief, loyalty, and wonder that grabs your heart and never let’s go. I started out with a wolf. When he passed away Marylee wanted to get me another one, but I wasn’t ready. Later on, my son acquired a female husky, and I fell head over heels in love with her and this breed. She looked like a wolf but had the temperament of an angel. The rest is history.
Although we don’t get many snowstorms down here, I see winter in every one of our pups. In their joy when the temperature drops. In the way their tails curl a little higher when a breeze rolls through. In the way they cuddle their humans like they’re saying, “I’ll always keep you warm.”
Thank you for letting our Bama Huskies bring a little bit of winter magic into your home even if the snow never falls. ❄️🐺
Hope for the family they’ll complete. Hope for the adventures they’ll share. Hope for a lifetime of trust and companionship.
Meet the White Wonders — The Iceborn Legacy Line™
Stunning, strong, and genetically preserved.
Some dogs are simply born to turn heads, but white Siberian Huskies aren’t just beautiful… they represent a treasured recessive lineage. Our Iceborn Legacy Line brings forward the elegance of white coats, the calmness of balanced personalities, and the pure joy that Huskies give to the families they adore.
White Huskies are not albino they are the result of specific genetics passed carefully and intentionally through select bloodlines. When done ethically and thoughtfully, the result is a pup who shines like fresh snow under the southern sun. These dogs aren’t rare because they are difficult, they’re rare because responsible breeders preserve the trait properly and with purpose.
The Genetics Behind the Magic
Their coat color comes from a recessive gene (often associated with the “E locus”) that masks other pigments. When both parents carry this gene, their puppies may inherit coats of glowing, pure white. It requires knowledge, planning, and a commitment to keeping bloodlines diverse and healthy.
White is more than color it’s heritage preserved.

Winter Care Guide for Huskies
Cold-loving. Still family. And family deserves comfort, confidence, and care through every season.
Huskies were bred for the cold their double coat is a marvel of nature. But there’s a big difference between surviving harsh winters in a working pack… and thriving as a beloved companion in a modern home. Winter care isn’t about treating them like wolves. It’s about honoring their biology and the bond they share with us.
The Double Coat — Nature’s Smart Design
A Husky’s coat has two layers working together:
- Undercoat: ultra-soft insulation regulating temperature year-round
- Guard hairs: repel water, snow, and debris
Shaving this coat can disrupt its function making them hotter in summer and more vulnerable in winter. Brushing keeps it performing the way nature intended.
Help the coat do what it was engineered to do.
Healthy Indoor Fun
Cold weather can mean fewer outdoor adventures, so mental enrichment becomes essential. Huskies are thinkers. Give them a job and they’ll reward you with good behavior.
- Sniff-and-search games around the house
- Frozen broth treats (winter-themed enrichment!)
- Puzzle feeders to slow mealtime and activate problem-solving
- Short treadmill or hallway training sessions
Outdoor Wisdom
Huskies love chilly weather it often brings out their happiest zoomies. But not all cold is equal:
- Young pups & seniors are more sensitive to wind chill
- Dry them fully after wet play to prevent chill
- Monitor paws for cracking or contact with harsh ice-melt
- Reflective gear for early sunsets keeps walks safe
Nutrition for Winter Wellness
Immune support is huge as temperatures swing. We invest in supplements that support everything from digestion to brain development:
- MaxiFlora for gut health + immunity
- NuVet vitamins for cellular support
- Maintain high-quality food (Royal Canin ✅)
Grooming That Matters
Winter shedding still happens — it’s their coat adjusting and preparing for the seasons ahead.
- Weekly brushing prevents matting + improves circulation
- Regular baths are fine as long as they fully dry
- No shaving ever.
Puppy-Specific Winter Care
Even though Huskies are made for winter, puppies are still learning how to regulate body temperature. That’s why our Balanced Beginnings™ program ensures:
- Warm nursery environment with monitored climate
- Short, positive outdoor introductions
- Controlled exposure to new sights and sounds
- Constant human interaction to build security + trust
A puppy who feels safe in the winter grows into a dog who feels safe everywhere.
Winter Behavior: What’s Normal?
- More zoomies — cold air = Husky energy booster
- More snuggles — thick coats, warm hearts
- Curiosity in snow or frost — let them explore safely
If you see playful mischief… congratulations, your Husky is thriving.
Winter reveals what they’re built for. Love defines who they’re built for.
Balanced Beginnings™ — Winter Edition
Confidence is not an accident. It is nurtured one warm, secure moment at a time.
When winter winds roll across Alabama, our puppies are cradled in a world designed just for them. The first weeks of life are when the brain is forming connections they’ll rely on forever how they respond to new people, new places, and new challenges all begins right now.
The Science of a Confident Puppy
We incorporate elements of early neurological stimulation — a program originally developed for service and working dogs. These simple, gentle exercises help puppies become:
- More resilient to stress
- Better problem-solvers later in life
- Faster to adapt to new surroundings
- Calmer during travel, vet visits, and training
Every new sound, every scent, every warm cuddle sends the message:
“The world is safe — explore it.”
Warmth = Growth
Unlike sled dogs living outdoors, our mothers and puppies enjoy a controlled indoor environment. Warmth keeps calories focused on development instead of survival helping puppies grow strong, healthy, and relaxed.
How We Support Winter Newborns
- Climate-regulated nursery with health-driven temperature zones
- Daily weighing to ensure proper growth and hydration
- Gradual exposure to cooler temperatures only when ready
- Clean, soft bedding to support joint and muscle development
The Power of Human Hands
Touch is communication. From day one, every pup experiences loving human interaction they learn that our hands provide comfort and safety, not fear. This prevents anxiety-based behaviors later in life.
A confident adult Husky begins as a securely loved puppy.
A Glimpse Into Their First Adventure

Picture a 3-week-old pup taking its first peek into a world bigger than its whelping box eyes open, nose twitching, tail unsure but hopeful. We cheer them on with every wobbly step. Courage grows each time their little paws take them somewhere new.
By the time they go home, they’ve already learned the most important lesson of all:
Life is exciting and humans are part of the adventure.
From Our Hands to Yours
When a Bama Husky joins your family, they arrive prepared:
- To trust
- To bond
- To explore
- To thrive
Balanced Beginnings™ means your puppy’s future starts strong long before they meet you.

Truth Corner — Winter Myths: REFUTED ❄️
Huskies may be winter legends but modern Huskies are also family. Let’s set the record straight.
Myth #1: “Huskies belong outdoors in the cold.”
The Truth: Huskies thrive in chilly weather but they thrive even more when surrounded by love. Working sled dogs sleep outside because their lifestyle demands it. Companion Huskies live indoors because their hearts belong with their family.
Being capable of handling the cold doesn’t mean they should be left in the cold. Warm homes create stronger bonds, easier training, and healthier emotional development.
Outdoor ability ≠ outdoor living.
Myth #2: “Huskies don’t need indoor heating.”
The Truth: Puppies, seniors, and post-bath Huskies can chill quickly. A warm home helps conserve their energy for growth, learning, and play not survival.
Yes, their coat protects them. But drafts, wet fur, and tired bodies still need warmth and rest. Comfort isn’t a luxury it’s health care.
We warm their environment so they can warm our hearts.
Myth #3: “A Husky’s coat is all the protection they need.”
The Truth: The double coat is incredible but it isn’t invincible. Ice-melt chemicals can burn paws. Strong wind chills can cause discomfort. And a soaked Husky loses insulation fast.
Good care means partnering with nature: brushing, drying, and looking out for the details their instincts don’t consider.
Their coat is powerful, but a caring owner is stronger.
Myth #4: “Southern Huskies are always miserable.”
The Truth: Our Bama Huskies are specially selected for balanced energy and heat tolerance. They enjoy winter but they can chill just fine in summer with proper guidance.
The biggest factor in a Husky’s happiness isn’t weather, it’s leadership, enrichment, and belonging.
Modern Huskies aren’t stuck in the Arctic they’re thriving on the couch beside you.
Responsible breeding protects both the heritage and the heart of the Siberian Husky.
